Living the Christian Life - What are you committed to?

Bible References:  Phil 4:4; Prov. 2:3-5; Rev.1:3; Prov. 4:23, Romans 12:1-2; 1 John 4:4; Ezekiel 48:35; John 10:11; Genesis 22:8; 2 Cor. 1:8-10; Ex. 15:26; James 5:11-17; Phil. 3:9; Phil. 2:12-13; Lev. 20:8; Judges 6:24; Ex. 17:15 Every Church will be known by what they are committed to.  Every believer will be known by what they are committed to.  If you don't practice the Christian life as a Christian, you will sit, soak and sour.  That is, if you don't read the Word of God, pray, fellowship (spend time with God's people), worship and then put into action what you have learnt, you will simply sit, soak up negative influences and then go sour (bitterness). Worship is celebrating God's presence in your life.  Praising God is where we start.  Don't go around trying to show how good you are, how much you have it together, or think you do.  Our victory is only in Christ Jesus, not in ourselves.  The One who lives in you is greater than the one who lives in the wor

Psalm 32

Psalm 32 A Psalm of David. A Contemplation. [ a ] 1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered. 2 Blessed is the man to whom the LORD does not impute iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no deceit. 3 When I kept silent, my bones grew old Through my groaning all the day long. 4 For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; My vitality was turned into the drought of summer. Selah 5 I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah 6 For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You In a time when You may be found; Surely in a flood of great waters They shall not come near him. 7 You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. 9 Do

Life is like a Jigsaw Puzzle

Life is like a jigsaw puzzle.  Our life falls on the table in a 1000 pieces, God wisely, carefully puts pieces together until it all makes sense. Pain is a process with a purpose.  God doesn't cause our pain.  Because we live in a world that is sinful and fallen, we will experience pain, trials and suffering.  God always has a purpose.  His purpose:  to conform us to the image of His Son - reflect the image of Christ.  Only God can make something beautiful from ashes. Through this process oiur characters are built, we draw closer to God, we become more like Jesus. To avoid bitterness, know that God is with you in the journey.  Jesus wept.  He wept for Jerusalem and He wept when Lazarus died.  He knows what we feel.  He isn't far away at these painful times, He stands right beside us.   In these difficult times you need to : draw close to God by spending time reading the Bible continue to meet in community i.e. meet for worship with God's people (Church) We may not un

Church: What are we to be and what are we to do?

Church.  A one word statement.  What are we (the Church) to be and what are we (the Church) to do? Worship (Matthew 22:34-40) Evangelise - tell the world the whole gospel message Fellowship - Church should be a safe, protected place where people can learn, and share Equip disciples for ministry Have effective results rather than lots of activities/programs (check out how the early Church in Acts operated!) Bible references: John 17:18 Acts 2:41-47 Acts 2:44-45 Ephesians 4:11-16 Our Pastor will be sharing more about Church:  What are we to be?  What are we to do? once a month during this year. Offering Opportunties to serve

At TCC we like to offer opportunities for our people to serve.  Serve in areas where they can use their gifts and natural abilities.  We had the priviledge of one of our members who is currently studying to share some insights from what they have been learning.  And isn't that what Church should also be about?  A safe place to share your joys, struggles and what you've been learning and challenged with? One of our members shared "I started to read, I mean really read my Bible about 12 years ago and I was living in a very remote part of Australia.  I was learning pure gospel, commentary by my side, Christian TV...and no religion.  By religion, I mean ritual and ceremony, carried out without God's involvement at all.  It wa not until the end of last year; and particularly the beginning of this year that I ran smack bang into religion.  A battle I never thought I would have to fight..." You may or may not agree with this statement, but this person went on to share

Encouragement from Jeremiah 1:14-19

Jeremiah 1:14-19                               You are not an accident. Your birth was no mistake, no mishap and your life is no fluke of nature.   Even if your parents didn’t plan you – God did. (PDL Day2)   Before we take our first breath, God knows how long we’ll live.   He knows our name.   He made you for a purpose. Jeremiah was concerned because he was a youth when God called him and he didn’t think those older than himself would listen or take notice of what God wanted Jeremiah to say.   God reassures Jeremiah that He will be present, he will always be with the young prophet.   Lord assures him in v19 “I am with you”. Jeremiah would have to go and speak God’s word to a nation that didn’t want to hear or respond in repentance.   He was also named the “weeping prophet” and spent more than 40 years declaring God’s Word to an unrepented nation.   Though he was rejected, put in a well, despised and persecuted, he persistently declares the uncomprising message God wants to tell the pe

The Voice of Experience

Bible readings from Sunday 16th January Message: Acts 17:26-27 Galations 6:7 Genesis Chapter 1:1 Eccelesiates Chapter 3 Romans 2:14-15 Ecclesiates 2:18 1 Corinthians chapter 13 Matthew 5:1-12 10 Commandments - Exodus chapter 20:1-17 We want the world to be fair, but it isn't.  Our view of what is fair may be different from another's view of what is fair.  People deny the existence of God, but that does not mean God does not exist.  Walk through Israel and surrounding areas to see historical evidence.  Look at creation.  Genesis chapter one verse 1 says "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." We don't know from one day to the next what will happen but God is our constant.  We are not here to build "castles" but to proclaim the Message and when we're done we take the Father's hand and go home. The following story shows us the voice of experience - we can learn a lot from a child's perspective... Sandcastles by
