Salvation

1. Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,…” We’ve all failed to keep God’s Word, the Law, His commandments. At some point we’ve lied, cheated, hurt with actions or words, failed to fully obey the commands set down by God.  We’re all in this together.  No person is exempt.  It’s inclusive for the whole human race. 2. Romans 6:23  “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Sin = missing the mark.  “The mark, in this case, is the standard of perfection established by God and evidenced by Jesus. Viewed in that light, it is clear that we are all sinners.” [https://www.allaboutgod.com/what-is-sin.htm] Eternal life – a gift of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.  That is “knowing God”, now in the present and forever.  Being in relationship with Him now, today, not just when we get to heaven. 3. Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ die

Tolerating Each Other

Bible references:  Romans 15:1-33 In following the example of Christ,  we are to tolerate one another and each other's failures.  Christian liberty is a wonderful thing,  but its not for our pleasure but to bring glory to God.  We are not to please men and women,  but to be servants of Jesus Christ.   He is our Lord,  our Saviour and example.   We who have trusted him are called sons and daughters of God.   We are to consider one another at all times.  We are to bear one another.    We are not just believers but disciples, because he first loved us. Jesus was meek, and put up with the lowly.  He stood with the weak, not Lord it over them.   As God's people,  disunity causes strife.  We should be building up people (edification).   God did what he did,  because he loves you.  People will never agree on everything,  but we are to live in harmony.   No one is better than another,  we are to serve one one another.    We are not to despise God's people,  the Jews.  T

Open Our Eyes and See Jesus!

Bible references:  Romans 11:1-10;  Psalm 69; Romans 4:3, Elijah 19:18 Did God reject his people?  No! We are saved by grace, not by works.  God has kept a remnant of faithful people.  The Psalm refers to the suffering of His servant,  the passion, and the gentiles.  Its God who gets us saved,  not us.  God makes us good enough.  When we say no, we're telling him he's not good enough.   Pray to God, he can give you the strength,  comfort,  and perseverance to do his will.  Sometimes people will say things about you that will be bad, but count them as suffering alongside Christ.  The psalm tells us some of Christ's suffering.   He went through all on the cross for us.  If people persecute you because of Christ. pray for them,  they are in strife.   The jews sin was that they could not see the light and preferred darkness.   If this is what we desire, we will be given over to their own lust, passion.  God will not shut anyone out from righteousness.  Acts 20:24 - our purpose.

What About Israel? What about us?

EXODUS 19, ROMANS 9:1-30, Ephesians  To be indifferent to the eternal condition of other people is contrary both to the love required by the law, of God and the mercy of the Gospel.  You are here today to be a witness of the love of God in your life.   You are not insignificant,  but worthwhile to God! Israel was chosen and given special privileges,  but they did not do it. The children of the promise, Abraham's children.   God chose them, Israel to be his witness.  Today, out of all the world,  God chose you, God chose me.  We are His witness in this world.   To go into the fields of white and bring in the harvest. Are we professing Christ,  or are we disciples?  Even Satan believes in Jesus,  but he is not a disciple.   Jesus is our King, He is our Saviour.   The real believer is a disciple.  In the great commission,  we're told to make disciples, not believers.  Eg the rain will come whether they believe in God or not.   Israel took God's laws and started mak

Do We Pass The Test?

Bible References:  1 John 4:7-21; 1 John 3:1-18; Roman's 12:1-2; John 8:28-52 God's love is not an emotion, but is His nature, governing His actions. True Salvation: Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 1 John 4:7-8 True Fellowship: No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.   This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. 1 John 4:12-13 True Faith:  If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God.  And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 1 John 4:15-16 True Obedience: We love because he first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their bro

What does it mean to be saved by Grace?

That’s why the Scriptures say, “Abraham believed God, and because of this he was accepted as one who is right with God.” Romans 4: 3 What does it mean to be saved by Grace? There is no act we can do to be saved.  God gave us the Law (Ex 20).  Matthew 22:37-40 - first act of life as a Christian.   Loving our neighbors as we love ourselves is act of ministry. We all deserved to be judged because we have sinned. Jesus won victory over death.   We will either live eternally with God or etetnally without Him. Eph 2:3 1.  If I break the Law, I deserved to be punished. 2.  Mercy is not getting punishment for what you deserve. 3.  I got what I did not deserve - GRACE goes the extra step. We do not deserve forgiveness of our sins; but God through Jesus gave us a way to be eternally with Him. 1 Peter 2:22, 23-24 The only way to be saved is faith in Jesus and what He did on the cross. There is nothing you can do to be saved except put your faith in Jesus Christ. We can only trust in t

Go Back to Where You Come From

Bible References:  Romans 7; PS 138.8 What is the purpose for our life? The Lord called out a people to live in the centre of the world. Israel, the people were called to live where the centre of the world;  north and south, east and west and a lot of trade happened God placed the Jewish people in the land we know as "Israel". Crossing the Jordon, indicated a whole new start.  Its not about feelings at all.  Ps 138.8  the Lord will accomplish what concerns me, the Lord will accomplish not me! Matthew 22: 36-39  the greatest commandment, purpose of God in our life.  Matthew 28. 18 to 20 Why do we live this life?  To fulfill the purpose God created you for.  You were Created for a purpose. Worship is not about going to a service.  Its about living our life cause God wants us to.  God blesses us to bless others.  Worship is not singing a song, its about loving God.  Its not about feelings. Loving God, letting God transform your mind, you using your freewill.  If

The two ways. One right and one wrong!

What about the Law? Does it help to make us “right with God?” Yes it does. Read: Ps 1; the two ways. One right and one wrong! Romans: 7 In this passage of scripture note the number of times the word “Law” and “I” are mentioned, it is about a personal relationship with God and the struggles we can have if we allow the old nature to take control. Paul shows us that the Law is powerless to save the sinner, the law keeper and even the person with a new nature. The sinner is condemned by the law; The law keeper can’t live up to the law; and The person with the new nature finds his/her obedience to the law finds sabotaged by the effects of the old nature. Paul declares that salvation cannot be found by obeying the law. No matter who you are; Only Jesus Christ can set us “Free.”( v 21-25) Without the Law we are headed straight to “Hell” and this is exactly what the enemy wants; no Law means no sin; that is why people do not want to recognise God – if there is no Creator and

The Way of Salvation- Being “Right” is by Faith.

Last week we talked about our starting point and the difference our view of the world will be when it starts with God the Creator, so let us find out or for some review the Word of God and find out more as to how, why and what of being “Right with God is about.” 1. We learn from our own experience read Romans 5: 1-5 Because we are made “right” by faith - with God we have the following: Peace with God- knowing right from wrong through His Word. Access to God’s grace- help given to man by God Joy in the hope of sharing God’s glory – our destiny is to be in heaven with Him for eternity. God’s love poured out into our hearts - the Holy Spirit guides us into all truth. 2. We learn this because of what Christ has done for us – showing us God’s great love.  While we were: Weak: Christ died for the ungodly v6 Sinners: Christ died for us v8 Enemies: we were reconciled by His death v 10 (reconciled = to cause to be friendly or harmonious again – establish harmony, in this case us

The whole of chapter 11 of Hebrews is on the faith of ordinary, everyday people called by God. If you would like to do a study on faith – find a concordance and look up the

Living Life of Victory - 3 types of People (1)

Living a Life of Victory - 3 Types of People (1) Romans 1:19-31 New International Version (NIV) 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. 24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Cre
