Living the Christian Life (Education)

Bible reference: Romans 2 Some people don't have a formal education,  yet they can learn. Some people receive an education.  Education or no education; we can't escape God's judgment.   We all need God's mercy,  regardless of our education.   God does not show favoritism.   The person who is educated,  can learn from nature as well.  He knows that there is a God with intelligence.   Many educated people try to reason out life.  They are challenged by answered prayer.  Sometimes you can't reason with intellectual reasoning.   The intellectual person knows there is a judgment,  he also knows God is merciful and compassionate.  He will try and find a way of escape. We must have God who is just.  If not, then there will be no repentance or paying the price to make the unjust act right.  The price had to be paid.  We are not to walk in another's pain.   We are to be compassionate but not take the hurt or pain on.  God calls us to love one another and care for o

Purpose In Our Life - Complete the Mission The Lord has Given us to Do

Bible Reference:  Acts 20:24 "But nothing, not even my life, is more important than my completing my mission. This is nothing other than the ministry I received from the Lord Jesus: to testify about the good news of God’s grace."  Acts of the Apostles 20:24 CEB /https://bible.com/bible/37/act.20.24.CEB Completing the mission the Lord has for us to do.  We will know who we are; your people. Romans 16:25-27 Jesus Christ came from the line of David but he was also the divine Son of God.   God also raised him from the dead. A disciple - a disciplined way of life.  We are loved by God and members of His body. God has called you and set you aside from this world.   We are holy saints; people of God; we are Christians. Only God through what the Jesus Christ has accomplished through his death and resurrection, salvation and eternal life. The Roman church suffered great persecution.   They were loved by God and called to be his saints.   As we go about our life as a Christian,

Our Eternal Salvation

Bible reference:  Acts 5:25-32 Our eternal salvation and how we know for sure. We tell people about God, but it's Jesus who saves.   It's important that we tell people about Jesus Christ,  he is the One who saves. It's important to ask yourself,  do you know for certain that you would go and be with the Lord. Eternity is very, very permanent.   One day, each of us will know the true answer to this question. Roman's 14:10 We have two appointments made for us:  Hebrews 9:27 - death and judgement. There are two sure things in this physical world:  death and taxes. Tragedy can happen at anytime.   God tells us in James 4:14.  We can make mistakes about a lot of things,  but not salvation.   Proverbs 14:12 - our feelings are not a safe guide; go by God's word and the Holy Spirit tells you. If what you feel,  or hear doesn't line up with the Bible; don't follow it.  Check out what you're hearing against God's Word.   Mark 7:7. Know where stuff com

Conscript Not Volunteer

Bible reference:  Acts 20:22-24 Some tele-evangelists seem to portray that being a Christian makes everything great.  But Scripture doesn't line up with this thinking. People hated Jesus.  We enter by the narrow gate. Everyone has a ministry.   It is a 24/7 ministry.  God has given every Christian a ministry of reconciliation.   We are conscripts, not volunteers.  We obey God.  Ananias went when the Lord directed him to go to Paul.  Paul went as the Lord directed him.   Why didn't Paul think that these afflictions seemed easy.  He didn't see himself as a volunteer but as a servant,  a soldier,  there under orders to serve his Commander. Example:  Chaplin McKenzie (in first world war).  He served his Commander,  Jesus Christ on the battlefield. Scripture does not call us volunteers.   The problem is that volunteers can choose to serve, not to serve, or leave all together.   Conscripts obey.  Jesus goes with us, to toughen up.   If we don't toughen up,  we will fall

We All Have A Ministry

Bible reference:  Acts 20:24 In life, it's easy to start something new.  A new diet, an exercise program,  a new job, new relationships,  a new beginning.   But life isn't a 50 yard dash, but a marathon.   There are lots of good starters, but poor finishers.  I  have known many who have started well with a bang, but finish with a whimper. People start with a bang, then get hit with criticism.   There are lots of people who say things that put you down.  Sometimes the stress spills over into marriage and cause problems.   People sometimes leave ministry with a broken heart.   Paul did not want this to happen to the elders in Ephesus.   He wants us to reach the finish line.   Paul was sharing from his own life the trials and perseverance.  2 Timothy 4:7 Paul in Acts 20:24 had a difficult task.  Paul did not consider his own life more important than what Jesus called him to.  He put his trust in Jesus.   God is in control,  that's all we need to know.   God is most importan

Quarrelling Over Possessions

Bible References:  Genesis 13:1-18; Genesis 14; Genesis 15 We are not to quarrel over possessions. Jesus is the Lord of the nation's Psalm 2 The nation's of the world will give Jesus account for their actions.  We can't just do what we think.  We are accountable.  You can sound good; have good works but if you are not saved in Christ Jesus, you have missed out on your life; purpose and salvation.  In Genesis 13,  Lot sees the beautiful, fertile land near Sodom and Gormorrah.  This was where the cities of immorality and perversion stood.  Lot saw this and wanted it.   However, Abram obeys God.  He travels to sacred tree's at Mamre. He builds an altar  and worships God. In Romans 4:3, Abraham was considered righteous.  If you put your faith and trust in God you will live right.  Psalm 1 tells of a righteous man. Both Abraham and Lot started out the same; but one stood in streams of righteousness; one in the mire of wordly living.  God gave the land to Abraham- pro

The Lord's Supper

The Lord's supper is a symbol of the past; what's happening now and what he is doing in our future. God dearly loves you to spend time with Him.  He doesn't want us to spend time with Him.  Parents and Grandparents love to get to know their children. Luke 22:19 When we participate in the Lord's supper we each eat a small piece of bread. Luke 22:20 Whenwe drink a small amount of wine (or grape juice) it represents the bloof of Jesus Christ. OT - blood only covers sin. NT - blood washes away sin. Hebrews 9 God calls us to be a people of greatness in this world.  The bigger picture is that the death of Jesus Christ on the cross provides a way for the  remission of our sins. The death of Jesus Christ is a tremendous gift to us.   It is so precious.  When God gives us a gift and we don't use it; it hurts him.  He wants us to receive the gift of Jesus Christ's death on the cross. The communion meal is a memorial of Jesus' death but it is not a funeral.

Equipped and Accountable

Ephesians 2:8-10:  "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Tonight I want to talk about Christians to be equipped and accountable. If you go home and 'google ' verse 10 of Ephesians, you will find it says it is a masterpiece.  God says who I am.  A lot of times when things go wrong we ring someone and complain.   Go first to God and talk to him about to.  Whoever you are, whatever job or position you have, you are first and foremost a minister of God. What matters is what you've done with the Lord.  Not material things.  Life changing truth about you:  you are a minister of God. Ministry is not worship, music; it about loving people.  Practice what God has given to you. 1 Peter 4:10 - Each of you should use whatever gift you have receive

John chapter 11 (Lazarus raised by Jesus Christ)

When Jesus arrived, he found that Lazarus had been buried four days before. Bethany was less than three kilometres from Jerusalem, and many Judeans had come to see Martha and Mary to comfort them over their brother's death. When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed in the house. Martha said to Jesus, “If you had been here, Lord, my brother would not have died! But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask him for.” “Your brother will rise to life,” Jesus told her. “I know,” she replied, “that he will rise to life on the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me will live, even though they die; “Yes, Lord!” she answered. “I do believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.” After Martha said this, she went back and called her sister Mary privately. “The Teacher is here,” she told her, “and is asking for you.” When Mary heard this, she got up and

Discovering our Maturity

Santification and Justification Sanctification- imputed right; makes us fit for heaven. Perfection in God's sight is not obtained by achieving higher level of good works. You can only surrender your life to Jesus Christ and let him deal with our sin on the cross.  We are to know grow up. People are without excuse. Hebrews 10:14 Romans 1 - consequence of not dealing with God. The difference between people who really want to be in God's church and grow up.  One word - commitment.  What I do in my life here affects the whole body of Christ.  You cannot be accountable when you are not committed to a group of God's people. God has made us fit for heaven.    We are fit to be in the family of God because He brought us in to be in His family.  He wants us to grow up. Living life with other Christian people daily.  Look at actions - what people value comes out not by our words but by our actions.  We are to grow up. Discovering our Maturity. 1. Spiritual maturity

United Walk With Jesus

http://powerchurch.com.au/united-walk-with-jesus Excerpt from walk with Jesus... "Local Cairns Pastor Dave Drage is responding to a call on his life to GO and ENCOURAGE the churches of Australia. The Kingdom is here!” It’s time to:     •Rise Together – As Christian’s of Australia to show our nation that Jesus is our King, our country’s hope and future.     •Stand Together – in unity declaring Jesus as the head of His Church in all its diversity and many parts.     •Act Together – To function as the Body of Believers that Christ has called us into. To walk with Jesus, being led by The Holy Spirit in displaying His Kingdom rule and reign to all people. So that the nation and peop

Being Saved....

Romans 5:1 Justification - being saved. Santification - holiness You may not be in heaven yet, but you are in kingdom of God. As God's child, You have all the resources of heaven at your disposal. 1 John 3:9 When the seed of God is in you; you are no longer a sinner.  When you are saved, in God's eyes you are no longer a sinner.   God now wants to sanctify you. Romans 5:1 - we have peace with God because we are right with God.  Because of what God is doing in our life.  Our justification comes through our faith in Jesus Christ.   God sees us a someone worthwhile for God to invest His time in. Each of us should use the gifts God has given us to build, not tear down.  To do worthwhile work and edify the Church. Galations 2:16 - Galations was written because people came along and said Christians had to keep the Law and they became confused.  Law shows us our shortcomings; but cannot save us. The Law is not done away with; but we can only live with God's help. Galatio

Galatians 4:1-7

What I am saying is that as long as an heir is underage, he is no different from a slave, although he owns the whole estate. The heir is subject to guardians and trustees until the time set by his father. So also, when we were underage, we were in slavery under the elemental spiritual forces of the world. But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “ Abba, Father.” So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir. Living in the Model Church

1 Thessalonians 5:1-28 People in remote areas of our country receive messages via the airwaves that are negative.   They need positive messages via radio that bring hope. Pray for our fellow countrymen who live and work in the remote areas of our country. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 When we become Christians, life is not all rosy.  We live out our Christian walk, everday.  Test us, teach us Lord so that we grow in faith. We are taught We give our heart to the Lord and it's all rosy.  Scripture does not teach this.  We need to live out our faith.  We are just like everone else, we need Jesus Christ.  We will be asked when we get to heaven, what did we do with His Son? In Christ, our salvation is secure.  Whether we are alive or dead, we will be in heaven with Jesus.  There are responsiblities placed on believers. Leaders: •  when the respect goes from the leadership of the Church, the edification of the people goes.  God appoints the leaders of the Church.   Church is not a democra
