Living in God’s Family: Active Participation

Bible references: Heb. 10:25; Gal. 6:10; Ephesians 2; Romans 12:5; Hebrews 10:24; Eccl. 4:9-12; Proverbs 27:17; Heb.3:13; Gal. 6:12; Matthew 18:20; John 17:21; 1 Peter 4:10; 1 Corithians. ·          As Christians, we are to be actively participating in the family of God ·          Not actively participating in God’s family is disobedience ·          As Christians we belong in God’s family ·          Being in a family means doing things together – fellowship ·          We do good to each other because we love each other ·          Jesus Christ is our Foundation Stone, Corner Stone, and Cap Stone – we, the family of God make up the wall, without all of us the wall will have a hole and crumble. ·          The household of God is held together by Jesus Christ NOT by us ·          A family is   a place to belong and we should be able to express and practice love and reconciliation within the family ·          We are not to be deceived by sin and stubbornness

Living the Christian Life - What are you committed to?

Bible References:  Phil 4:4; Prov. 2:3-5; Rev.1:3; Prov. 4:23, Romans 12:1-2; 1 John 4:4; Ezekiel 48:35; John 10:11; Genesis 22:8; 2 Cor. 1:8-10; Ex. 15:26; James 5:11-17; Phil. 3:9; Phil. 2:12-13; Lev. 20:8; Judges 6:24; Ex. 17:15 Every Church will be known by what they are committed to.  Every believer will be known by what they are committed to.  If you don't practice the Christian life as a Christian, you will sit, soak and sour.  That is, if you don't read the Word of God, pray, fellowship (spend time with God's people), worship and then put into action what you have learnt, you will simply sit, soak up negative influences and then go sour (bitterness). Worship is celebrating God's presence in your life.  Praising God is where we start.  Don't go around trying to show how good you are, how much you have it together, or think you do.  Our victory is only in Christ Jesus, not in ourselves.  The One who lives in you is greater than the one who lives in the wor

The Cost of Being a Disciple: Indifference

Bible References:   Revelation 3:14-22; Col. 2:3; Mark 1:35; Matthew 4:4; Psalm 37:4; Psalm 16:11 Church of Laodicea: ·          Wealthy, proud ·          This church has no praise given to it all in the letters to the Churches ·          Laodicea is uninhabited ·          A lukewarm church – neither hot not cold Maybe this is a little like our country? We are a fairly wealthy, proud nation.   Let us not be Lukewarm, let us be either hot or cold, but not indifferent (Lukewarm).   Indifference – doing nothing.   Choose which way you will go. We are human beings, not human doings.   Jesus came to establish the lost connection with us – so we can have a relationship with God through Him.   Our priority as Christians is to praise Him.   Let’s be alive with purpose, not dead with indifference. Reflect this week about where you stand in your relationship with God. The cost of being a Disciple:  Whatever it takes!

Whatever it takes

John 17:20-25 20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one — 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. 24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. 25 “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me.  -o0o- Bible references:  John 17:20-25; Acts 4:34-5:11; 1 John 1:10; Psalm 63; Luke 14:27; Luke 14;33; Luke 9:23; John 8:31-32; James 1:22; Psalm 143:5; 1 Cori

Church Structure
