Ruth, Chapters 1 and 2

Ruth took on the whole deal.  She made a full commitment, not a part commitment. Elimech means “God is King”.  It signifies when Elimech dies that ‘God has left the house’.  This typified what was happening in Israel. Naomi means delight, pleasant.  Mara means bitter.  Naomi represents the remnant in Israel. Ruth - gentile bride The main message/theme is redemption.  The kinsman-redeemer. You won’t understand Revelation Chapter 5 if you don’t understand Ruth. In Chapter 1 Naomi gives both Orpah and Ruth a choice:Orpah goes back to her people, her god but Ruth chooses to go with Naomi and chooses the God of Israel Ruth made the whole-hearted decision to follow God In this we see the grace of God, he never fails to fulfill his plans in the face of the progress of evil and shows his grace to his people. When providence made her poor she stoops to her lot.  She is at peace. Israel at this time is desolate in spiritual things even though the harvests are plenty Ruth works - sh

Ruth, Chapter 1

The Book of Ruth is an account of a person who lived, this is not a fictional account.  Ruth lived, she is also in the lineage of Jesus Christ and King David’s Great-grandmother. Ruth came from Moab and lived in a time when there was a temporary peace between Israel and Moab.  The theme and message of the book of Ruth is about redemption and kinsman redeemer. Ruth chapter 1: • Written about the time of the judges • Sometimes God will bring a trial in your life • God is always concerned about the reminant • Naomi no longer pleasant, delight– admitted she was bitter by all that had happened “Mara” • Naomi was honest enough to admit her bitterness.  Are we honest enough with God when we are bitter? • Ruth, a Moabites, leaves all to go with Naomi to a nation she did not know • Ruth showed unconditional love, she was faithful, whole-heartedly devoted to Naomi • Although Israel went from nothing to having abundant harvests, Naomi and Ruth didn’t have food, and they didn

Romans 12

Romans 12 Contemporary English Version (CEV) Christ Brings New Life 12 Dear friends, God is good. So I beg you to offer your bodies to him as a living sacrifice, pure and pleasing. That’s the most sensible way to serve God. 2 Don’t be like the people of this world, but let God change the way you think. Then you will know how to do everything that is good and pleasing to him. 3 I realize how kind God has been to me, and so I tell each of you not to think you are better than you really are. Use good sense and measure yourself by the amount of faith that God has given you. 4 A body is made up of many parts, and each of them has its own use. 5 That’s how it is with us. There are many of us, but we each are part of the body of Christ, as well as part of one another. 6 God has also given each of us different gifts to use. If we can prophesy, we should do it according to the amount of faith we have. 7 If we can serve others, we should serve. If we can teach, we should teach. 8 If we c

Restoration and Our Part in It

Romans Chapter 11 Israel and God’s faithfulness 11 So I ask you, has God rejected his people? Absolutely not! I’m an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God hasn’t rejected his people, whom he knew in advance. Or don’t you know what the scripture says in the case of Elijah, when he pleads with God against Israel? 3 Lord, they have killed your prophets, and they have torn down your altars. I’m the only one left, and they are trying to take my life. 4 But what is God’s reply to him? I have kept for myself seven thousand people who haven’t bowed their knees to Baal. 5 So also in the present time there is a remaining group by the choice of God’s grace. 6 But if it is by grace, it isn’t by what’s done anymore. If it were, God’s grace wouldn’t be grace. 7 So what? Israel didn’t find what it was looking for. Those who were chosen found it, but the others were resistant. 8 As it is written, God gave them a dull spirit, so that their eyes would not see and thei
