Abraham’s faith was not made under the
law. Our righteousness does not come from
the great things we do. (Romans 4:13) It was not through the law that Abraham and his offspring received
the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness
that comes by faith.
Gal 3:6-9: Consider the experience of Abraham; as the
scripture says, He believed God, and because of his faith God accepted him as
righteous. You should realize, then, that the real
descendants of Abraham are the people who have faith. The
scripture predicted that God would put the Gentiles right with himself through
faith. And so the scripture announced the Good News to Abraham: Through you God
will bless all people. Abraham believed and was
blessed; so all who believe are blessed as he was.
James 2:20-24: Do I hear you professing to believe in the one and only God, but then observe you complacently sitting back as if you had done something wonderful? That's just great. Demons do that, but what good does it do them? Use your heads! Do you suppose for a minute that you can cut faith and works in two and not end up with a corpse on your hands? Wasn't our ancestor Abraham "made right with God by works" when he placed his son Isaac on the sacrificial altar? Isn't it obvious that faith and works are yoked partners, that faith expresses itself in works? That the works are "works of faith"? The full meaning of "believe" in the Scripture sentence, "Abraham believed God and was set right with God," includes his action. It's that mesh of believing and acting that got Abraham named "God's friend." Is it not evident that a person is made right with God not by a barren faith but by faith fruitful in works? What put Abraham right with God was his actions of faith. How would you feel if God asked you to pack up and go to India as a missionary?
Now Abraham came from a land of idol worshippers, his family didn’t worship God and his wife was barren. However, in spite of these “problems” he put his faith into action by obeying God when called to a country he had never been to before.
Hebrews 11:810: By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God.
Abraham was obedient to God, not to what was going on around him. When we think about all the things in our life that could stop us, remember Abraham had these too. These things could have stopped Abraham, but he went. Do we go like Abraham or do we allow the things of the world to stop us?
Genesis 12:1-3: Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonours you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Romans 4:16: Therefore,
the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to
all Abraham’s offspring—not only to those who are of the law but also to those
who have the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.
If Abraham had no faith then he wouldn’t
have went as God directed and we wouldn’t have Israel or the Messiah as
foretold in the Bible.

The real descendants of Abraham are

done in our lives not what we have done.

example: when two people agree on a matter and sign an agreement, no one can
break it or add anything to it. Now, God made his promises to Abraham and to
his descendant. The scripture does not use the plural descendants, meaning many
people, but the singular descendant, meaning one person only, namely, Christ.
