We are called to be obedient to God

Mark 16:15&16

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

When we are obedient to the gospel, when we believe and are saved we are called to be baptised.

Romans 1:16

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

What does the Bible say?

1 Cor 15:1-4

Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand.  By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance[a]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,  that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

Paul was reminding them of the gospel, death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus.  The wages of sin is death, but Jesus paid it, taking the punishment of our sins, so we can have eternal life.  Without Jesus' death, we would be doomed to eternal punishment.

It is Good News to us.

1 John 4:10
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

1 Cor 6:14
By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also.

The death of Christ is just as important as his resurrection.  A habit we can fall into is trying to fix up a person  who never died, was buried and raised up, "the old man".

John 11:25
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;

We have to be obedient to the gospel of God.

1 Cor 13: faith, hope and love

Foolishness of man, cut a tree and made one part and idol and burnt the other half for fuel (Isa).  Gospel is death, burial, resurrection of our Lord

Sin is the opposite of obeying our Father in heaven.
Romans 6:3-5
Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.
God is after the new person, born of the Spirit.
This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God.  And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

When we turn around and accept Jesus, we should get baptised, its part of the deal.  Its a commandment. Jesus was baptised before he began his earthly ministry. Part of being born again is being baptised.  We also need to be part of a family, if we don't become part of Gods family we are orphans.

Rom 6:6
For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin

When we obey the gospel of Christ, we are no longer slaves to sin.  God has paid the price to make you free!

Rom 6:17
But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance.

We are going to be a slave to something, right or wrong?
Without repentance there is no forgiveness of sin.
When we get baptised, bury old self, sin and new person raised up.
Obey righteousness.  God calls you to walk in the light.  Don't pick up your sin.
God makes us righteous not ourselves.  We are buried (die), and are resurrected to life.  Representation of what God has done.

Gal 1:6-8
I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel  which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.  But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse!

Gal 1:9
As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse!
God paid a big price for us to be saved

Our place in all of this is to Grow Up and be mature people, who are able to do his work.  Tell people about the gospel.

We don't know from one day to the next what will happen but God is our constant.  We are not here to build "castles" but to proclaim the Message and when we're done we take the Father's hand and go home.
