Living the Christian Life

"So I’m telling you this, and I insist on it in the Lord: you shouldn’t live your life like the Gentiles anymore. They base their lives on pointless thinking, and they are in the dark in their reasoning. They are disconnected from God’s life because of their ignorance and their closed hearts. They are people who lack all sense of right and wrong, and who have turned themselves over to doing whatever feels good and to practicing every sort of corruption along with greed. But you didn’t learn that sort of thing from Christ. Since you really listened to him and you were taught how the truth is in Jesus, change the former way of life that was part of the person you once were, corrupted by deceitful desires. Instead, renew the thinking in your mind by the Spirit and clothe yourself with the new person created according to God’s image in justice and true holiness. Therefore, after you have gotten rid of lying, Each of you must tell the truth to your neighbor because we are parts of each other in the same body. Be angry without sinning. Don’t let the sun set on your anger. Don’t provide an opportunity for the devil. Thieves should no longer steal. Instead, they should go to work, using their hands to do good so that they will have something to share with whoever is in need. Don’t let any foul words come out of your mouth. Only say what is helpful when it is needed for building up the community so that it benefits those who hear what you say. Don’t make the Holy Spirit of God unhappy—you were sealed by him for the day of redemption. Put aside all bitterness, losing your temper, anger, shouting, and slander, along with every other evil. Be kind, compassionate, and forgiving to each other, in the same way God forgave you in Christ." - Ephesians 4:17-32 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians4:17-32&version=CEB

Paul charged the people to walk in  the ways of the Lord.  Love the Light and live a life of holiness.

Truth is a big thing to God.  God deals in Truth not facts.  God deals in truth and purity.  You want to find truth, look at His Son.  The corrupt nature can kill.  When the body is healthy it can heal.

Take on Truth and holiness and a regengerating grace.  Being a New Man.  Don't live in 'old rags and dirty clothes'.

We keep ourselves in the place where God can do His Work in us.

The church is to edify itself.  Edification is about building up the body in Christ.

Take heed of anything contrary to Truth.  The smallest lies, anything that is not truth, is contrary to God.  We shouldn't flatter or deceive.  We shouldn't be people pleasers.

Main goal:  be in the regenerating grace.

We need to learn to grow up.  From babes to mature sons and daughters in the Lord.

Idleness - turns people into thieves and robbers.  Robbery is not just money but of the heritage of people, taking from people in all forms.  Those who will not work expose themselves to temptations.

God wants us to live honestly, giving to needs of others.  He wants us to grow in His Word, maturing in life with God.

Look up Hugh Latimer.   https://www.britannica.com/biography/Hugh-Latimer

We are to be kind to one another and build one another.  We are not the judge; God is the judge but we must judge for ourselves the right and wrong way.

We can't just get saved; we are to allow sanctification to work in our lives.

We either want to know the blessedness of God or the strife of life.

The Voice of Experience

Bible readings from Sunday 16th January Message: Acts 17:26-27 Galations 6:7 Genesis Chapter 1:1 Eccelesiates Chapter 3 Romans 2:14-15 Ecclesiates 2:18 1 Corinthians chapter 13 Matthew 5:1-12 10 Commandments - Exodus chapter 20:1-17 We want the world to be fair, but it isn't.  Our view of what is fair may be different from another's view of what is fair.  People deny the existence of God, but that does not mean God does not exist.  Walk through Israel and surrounding areas to see historical evidence.  Look at creation.  Genesis chapter one verse 1 says "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." We don't know from one day to the next what will happen but God is our constant.  We are not here to build "castles" but to proclaim the Message and when we're done we take the Father's hand and go home. The following story shows us the voice of experience - we can learn a lot from a child's perspective... Sandcastles by
