Only One Way...

 After they traveled through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a Jewish synagogue.  Paul went to the Jews in the synagogue, as he customarily did, and on three Sabbath days he addressed them from the scriptures,  explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer and to rise from the dead, saying, “This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Christ.”  Some of them were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, along with a large group of God-fearing Greeks and quite a few prominent women.  But the Jews became jealous, and gathering together some worthless men from the rabble in the marketplace, they formed a mob and set the city in an uproar. They attacked Jason’s house, trying to find Paul and Silas to bring them out to the assembly.  When they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brothers before the city officials, screaming, “These people who have stirred up trouble throughout the world have come here too,  and Jason has welcomed them as guests! They are all acting against Caesar’s decrees, saying there is another king named Jesus!”  They caused confusion among the crowd and the city officials who heard these things. - Acts 17:1-8 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts17:1-8&version=NIV

When Paul preached to the Jews  he preached from OT to them.

Three main points:

1.  Death and resurrection of Jesus Christ was necessary;
2.  Salvation is only through Jesus;
3.  Jesus is the 'boss ' of the church.

Acts 17:3

Jesus is the Christ. Reference:  Luke 24 - Emmaus Road.

Israel was to show the world God.   The church is to show the world God.   We need to be in the best possible place so we can show the world God.

God loves even those who hurt us the most.  But he does not want us to remain in a place where we get hurt.

It's one thing to know about someone yet you don't know them.   Knowing God is not a knowledge of information but knowing Him.

You can know stuff but not know God.

We preach one name to the nations - Jesus.

In OT God wants to know each of you personally.   God thinks you are wonderful because he made you.

Adam sinned and fellowship with God was broken.   This is why God went to so much trouble to restore the fellowship between himself and people.

John the Baptist identified Christ as the 'Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world '.

There is only one thing that can save us:  Jesus' sacrifice so we can be made right.  Offered himself once and for all.

Jesus came as the last 'Adam'.

Principle in OT:  First born - Judgement; secon born - grace.

Everyone today still needs to hear the Good News.  Christ is theonly way to salvation.

The Voice of Experience

Bible readings from Sunday 16th January Message: Acts 17:26-27 Galations 6:7 Genesis Chapter 1:1 Eccelesiates Chapter 3 Romans 2:14-15 Ecclesiates 2:18 1 Corinthians chapter 13 Matthew 5:1-12 10 Commandments - Exodus chapter 20:1-17 We want the world to be fair, but it isn't.  Our view of what is fair may be different from another's view of what is fair.  People deny the existence of God, but that does not mean God does not exist.  Walk through Israel and surrounding areas to see historical evidence.  Look at creation.  Genesis chapter one verse 1 says "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." We don't know from one day to the next what will happen but God is our constant.  We are not here to build "castles" but to proclaim the Message and when we're done we take the Father's hand and go home. The following story shows us the voice of experience - we can learn a lot from a child's perspective... Sandcastles by
