Blasphemy

Being made holy is becoming the way God wants us to be.

Blasphemy.   Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 12:22-32 (NIV)

Speaking against the Holy Spirit.  Jesus mentions the unpardonable sin.  Blasphemy against Holy Spirit.

In verse 22 Jesus heals a blind and mute man and Pharisees accuse him of casting out demons using a demon.

When you cause a division, you can cause a weakness.  But you can also cause people to come together and stand strong.  When there is fighting in a family, it causes divisions.

You have to bind up the strong man before we take over.  The sooner you bind up the strongman, the sooner you can sort the problem.

God is not passive.  God takes full victory.

In Australia, we have a passive attitude; it causes all sorts of problems.

Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is unpardonable sin.  You can speak against God or Jesus; God does not like it but He will forgive.

It upsets God that people would say the message of the cross was done through power of demons; this is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

Jesus stated his baptism was to fulfill all righteousness.   Matthew 3:25

Psalm 110:4; Hebrews 5

Christians come under priesthood of Melchizedek; not levite priesthood.  Jesus is a priest but not through the line of Aaron.

Priests offer sacrifices on behalf of people.  Priest = bridge builder.  We are the ones who keep laying the foundation; Jesus is the foundation. Without a foundation all will collapse.

Jesus became the sacrifice for our sin.  He paid the price of sin which is death.  When you give your heart to the Lord your spirit comes alive.

1 Peter 2:21  we follow as Jesus has done.  The foundation is Jesus.   If you build foundations out of rubbish, division, immorality then you fall over.  There are ways and principles that work; we need order.

Leviticus 8:6  washed with water.   John the Baptist didn't think he was good enough.  When we think We're not good enough we let down what God wants to do.

Leviticus 8:12  annoint with oil.  Made right and fit to do the work.  Holy Spirit coming upon Jesus to do His ministry.

Numbers 4:3  to start his ministry, Jesus had to be at least 30 yrs old.

You know God is in the meeting when there is order.

Matthew 3:16  after this time Jesus began his ministry.   Why would the Pharisees come against Jesus?  The miracles and words of Jesus validated his ministry.

Blasphemy is saying Jesus went to cross by demons.  It's untrue.  We can't sit on fence thinking we're ok.  We are in a bad place.  My salvation depends on nothing I do but what Jesus has done.  The Pharisees were saying that Jesus, God's Son was not good enough to bring us salvation.  They were speaking against the Holy Spirit's work.

John 3:16-17

There is only one requirement to become part of God's Church  - faith in Christ Jesus in His work on the cross.

We don't know from one day to the next what will happen but God is our constant.  We are not here to build "castles" but to proclaim the Message and when we're done we take the Father's hand and go home.
