Living In God's Family - Who is Your Influence?

Bible Reference:  1 Timothy 1;
There are those who teach the true gospel and those who don't.

1.  Read the Bible
2.  Don't follow a man - Follow Jesus Christ.

Paul warns about division about minor matters.  Most divisions that happen usually the participants can't remember what started it.  Christianity is not about lifestyle or religion; it's a living thing that happens in our lives.  It's not about attending church each week it's about a living relationship with Christ.

As we read through Acts we find lives transformed. Paul had a past; so do we; formally we did but now we are different.  Acts 24:25-28

If someone has had a past is it ok to feel concerned if they suddenly come to Church would we be concerned?  Yes

Once you meet Jesus and accept Him we are changed.   Who changed Paul?  The Holy Spirit works in us.  Believers who continue on, will be in a spiritual war.  1Timothy

There will be people around you who want to influence you one way or another.   Some of those are in church.

Acts 2:42-43
▪ study the Word of God
▪  prayer (a two way conversation)
▪  fellowship (talk about those things in life that matter and that God reveals to us)
▪  breaking of bread (having communion together)
In the early church people saw miracles and changed lives.  God uses people to make a change in the community around us.

He wants us to fight a good fight and hold fast to the Truth.  We shouldbe the voice that brings in good things.   When people get up and talk about the good stuff, the bad stuff will go.  We will see a change when we go out and do it.  Christianity is not a bed of roses.  We d o gain the ultimate goal- heaven.  The people out there don't.

2 Corinthians 3:7-9
1 Peter 2:7-10
To be warned there are some who want to cause trouble and not preach Truth.
2 Timothy 2:10

We need to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.  He has plans for us.

2 Timothy 4:10
Some people love the world; toys; material things; world life.

1 Corinthians 5:1-9
Part of God's Kingdom is loving and caring for one another.  We are not to be proud, but humble and honest.
3 John v9  - pride.  People who want to put themselves out there all the time.  Jesus is not about proud people.
We put people out of the fellowship if they are immoral not wanting to repent so that they can be tested and reconciled.  Reconciliation is very important.

The Voice of Experience

Bible readings from Sunday 16th January Message: Acts 17:26-27 Galations 6:7 Genesis Chapter 1:1 Eccelesiates Chapter 3 Romans 2:14-15 Ecclesiates 2:18 1 Corinthians chapter 13 Matthew 5:1-12 10 Commandments - Exodus chapter 20:1-17 We want the world to be fair, but it isn't.  Our view of what is fair may be different from another's view of what is fair.  People deny the existence of God, but that does not mean God does not exist.  Walk through Israel and surrounding areas to see historical evidence.  Look at creation.  Genesis chapter one verse 1 says "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." We don't know from one day to the next what will happen but God is our constant.  We are not here to build "castles" but to proclaim the Message and when we're done we take the Father's hand and go home. The following story shows us the voice of experience - we can learn a lot from a child's perspective... Sandcastles by
