Living the Christian Life (doing)

Bible reference:  Matthew 22:34-40; Matthew 28:18-20

Last week- Salvation comes when we put our faith in Jesus Christ.   Works before salvation is for ourselves; after salvation for Jesus Christ.

In Matthew 28:18-20, we are all called to make disciples (not believers).  We are to also baptize them,  teach them everything Jesus has commanded us.

1.  Love the Lord our God with allour heart, mind and soul- worship.
Why did Jesus Christ come?  To reveal the Father.

2.  Love your neighbor as yourself - ministry. The early church loved each other and cared for each other,  people wanted in.

3.  Win disciples.

4.  Baptize disciples

5.  Teach disciples

Exodus 20:1-8

Marriage.

God says "I am your God,  and you will have no other god before me".

Read book of Ephesians,(grafted into  Abraham's line).

A man should say to his bride,  no other man, just him. Same for woman; her husband to have no other woman to be in his thoughts but his wife.

God and Israel are in a marriage covenant  (Ketublah).

We don't take God's name in vain.   Don't do anything that puts God's name down.   Only bring honor and glory to God's name.

Sabbath- Israel came out of Egypt; out of slavery.   God tells us to rest in Him.  Love Him,  worship him, rest in him.

Worship- Acts 2:42.  Model of early  church worship.  Read the Bible,  come together in fellowship,  break the bread(communion), prayer.

Ephesians 2:19 - church is not an organization; churches are families.  They act on relationships with some structure.  Family is an organism,  not an organization.

1 Corinthians 11:23-29
What's really important to God?  We love God and we love one another. The church is a family.   We are to be a family; belong to a family.  A Christian without a church family  is an orphan.   As an orphan,  you are vulnerable to attacks.   Families come around and protect each other.

We are to love our Christian brothers and sisters; our families.   Be involved in each other's lives.

1 John 3:16-17
When the Church does not show love(agape) for each other, then hatred is shown.

Romans 12:1-13
Offer ourselves as a living sacrifice, a spiritual act of worship.   Allow God to change your mind.   You will act out what is in your head.

Every member of a church is a minister.  The people are the minister.  It is worth your while to teach someone about Jesus.

Revelation 1:5-6
He has made us a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father...

We need to make sure we Love God.   Without his love,  we can't love others.

Every believer is to be a minister of God.   The way we do life, how we live, even in our jobs.  Family doesn't just help 1 child,  the family helps all it's children.   All God's people need to practice giving into God's family.   Not just financial; all areas of family life.

Everybody is worthwhile in the body.

Ephesians 2:8-10

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

The Voice of Experience

Bible readings from Sunday 16th January Message: Acts 17:26-27 Galations 6:7 Genesis Chapter 1:1 Eccelesiates Chapter 3 Romans 2:14-15 Ecclesiates 2:18 1 Corinthians chapter 13 Matthew 5:1-12 10 Commandments - Exodus chapter 20:1-17 We want the world to be fair, but it isn't.  Our view of what is fair may be different from another's view of what is fair.  People deny the existence of God, but that does not mean God does not exist.  Walk through Israel and surrounding areas to see historical evidence.  Look at creation.  Genesis chapter one verse 1 says "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." We don't know from one day to the next what will happen but God is our constant.  We are not here to build "castles" but to proclaim the Message and when we're done we take the Father's hand and go home. The following story shows us the voice of experience - we can learn a lot from a child's perspective... Sandcastles by
