In I Timothy: 1 v 12-15. Paul writes to Timothy about being a faithful servant to God and the conduct which is expected of him in serving. In the epistle of 1 Timothy Paul speaks about dressing modestly, he speaks about the roles of deacons and bishops and apostasy in the church. But before he writes about these moral standards in the church he was humble enough to confess and write about the type of man be used to be before the grace of God transformed his life. Paul mention’s the fact that he used to be a blasphemer, a persecutor and an insolent man. Paul also wrote in verse 15 that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. Paul shows great humility in which he highlights his many flaws so that he can exalt the grace and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ. Paul’s encounter with the Lord Jesus on the road to Damascus and the transformation in his life is a testimony every one of us can relate to. I believe Paul left us a pattern to follow in which, if you display humility you’ll receive grace. Thus as the scripture says a number of times, that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. I believe it is a true sign of a believer. Salvation in itself requires humility in acknowledging the fact that our sins are worthy of condemnation and that Jesus is our only glimmer of hope. Our Lord displayed humility on a level that I still can’t comprehend to this day. The humility of Christ is what led me to love Him. Jesus is unlike any other king for He is the King of Kings from everlasting to everlasting.
The Bible says that God
demonstrated His love toward us in that while we were still sinners, Christ
died for us, and not only that but He chose the cross, which in my opinion it
would be the most horrific, degrading, painful way to die. Brothers and sisters the gospel is real, Jesus the Son of God came to this earth, and was crucified on Calvary to die for the sins of the world. He was then seen by many after His resurrection
including 500 people at one time and whoever believes or accepts this truth
will not die in their sins but have eternal life.
Communion is a timely
reminder of what happened on Calvary. Jesus is the undeniable link between man and
God. For no one comes to the Father but
through Him, nor is salvation found in any other Name. Without Jesus we would all be utterly doomed. I guess that’s why we call Him our
Saviour. Many years ago we know that the
wrath of God destroyed all but 8 people when He flooded the earth because of
man’s depravity. We are also reminded of
God’s wrath when taking communion, because on Calvary, God’s wrath was poured
out his only begotten Son for our sins.
Jesus took the punishment for us to deliver us from the wrath to come.
When you come to that
place in life when your eyes have been opened up to the deity of Christ we
start to think like the apostle Peter when he said “Lord to whom shall we go”. You have the words of eternal life, also we
have come to believe that you are the Christ the Son of the living God. As we eat this bread let us remember that the
Word became flesh and dwelt among us.
The Lamb of God took away the sin of the world because the iniquity of
us all was placed upon His body.
As we drink this cup together
we acknowledge the blood of Jesus which is the only remedy for our sins. So much could be said about the blood of
Jesus for we know that it provides atonement for our sins, if also provides
reconciliation to the Father. We also
know from scripture that the life is in the blood and it’s because of His blood
that we can all have eternal life with Him.
God revealing Himself
through Jesus Christ of Nazareth and dying on the cross is the most significant
event to have happened in the history of humanity. He is our God and as God’s children we just
have to point to Jesus and faith in Him.
Nothing more nothing less.
