The Habit of a Daily Time with God
A
time I set aside each day to be alone with God to get to know Him
Time alone with God each day. The habit of a daily time with God (Reading God’s Word) James 1:22 & 25. Personal Bible reading and prayer each day. Bible reading and prayer with our God and ourselves. Mark 1:35, James 1:25 and Romans 12:12
• Why is this important?
1. We are created to have fellowship with God.
(Genesis 1:26-27)
Then God said, “And now We will make human beings; they will be like us and resemble Us. They will have power over the fish, the birds, and all animals, domestic and wild, large and small.” So God created human beings, making them to be like Himself. He created them male and female.
These verses from the book of Genesis describe the creation of mankind. According to this passage, God created humans in his own image and likeness and gave them the ability to rule over all the creatures on earth. This passage is considered as the foundation of the doctrine of human dignity and human responsibility. It also shows that God created humans as male and female, which is considered as the foundation of the doctrine of gender and sexual distinctions. It also shows that God gave humans the stewardship of the earth and its creatures. This passage is also considered as the foundation of the doctrine of human stewardship and environmental responsibility.
(Revelation 3: 20). Listen! I stand at the door and knock if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into his house and eat with him, and he will eat with Me. (1 Corinthians 1:9). Jesus came to make a relationship with God possible. God is to be trusted, the God who called you to have fellowship with His Son Jesus Christ, Our Lord.
2.
Personal time alone with God was Jesus’ habit. Very early the next morning,
long before daylight, Jesus got up and left the house. He went out of town to a
lonely place, where He prayed. (Mark 1:35), Luke 5:16: Luke 22:39-43 "And He came out and went,
as was His custom, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed Him.
And when He arrived at the place, He said to them, 'Pray that you may not enter
into temptation.' And He withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and He knelt
down and began to pray, saying, 'Father, if You are willing, remove this cup
from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.' And there appeared to Him an
angel from heaven, strengthening Him.". People who have been effective in
ministry for God developed this habit. For example: Abraham, Moses, David,
Daniel, Paul, Peter etc.
