Passon on the Banner of Witnessing in our Nation

As our Pastor was away Ps Phyllis shared with us on Passing on the Banner of Witnessing in our Nation on Sunday.  The question posed to us was "How do I become a better witness for Christ Jesus?" Bible Readings: Hebrews 12:1-2 Psalm 116 Deut 6:6-7 Romans 8:38 Acts 20:24 Matthew 25:21 We live in a nation that has it's heritage founded on the ways of Almigthy God.  This land is rich in Christian witness with men and women living Christ like lives in very difficult surroundings. Some to mention:  Rev Richard Johnson, Ludwig Liechart, Charles Sturt, Edward Eyre, Caroline Chisolm, Mary McKinnon, Rev John Flynn, Fred McKay and the list goes on. Reference to Australia's Christian Heritage (by Col Stinger).  Suggested reading. When we are involved in witnessing for Christ we all have an enemy who's only desire is to cause disunity amongst God's people and we need to guard against this.  Phyllis then shared three ways that TCC members are involved in the

Joy & Peace versus Happiness

Ps Tim has been working around the Lakeland Area near Cooktown the past couple of weeks and shared with us today the change in the landscape in that area from having rain. As the country (around Lakeland) has been washed with rain so too we are washed by God to make us clean.  When you look at the land it is green, clean and beautiful with an abundance of grass and vegetation.  It reminds us that God can take land that dry and dirty and wash it clean and fresh causing new growth.  Likewise, He washes us clean and causes growith and abundance. If we lose everything do we still have joy and peace?  Peace is not found in us, but in God.  In Jesus nothing is missing, nothing is broken.  God wants us to be a blessing to bless others.  If we are "happy" then our lives depend on whether we are happy or sad (emotions) but not on deep down joy and peace.  How do we get it right?  Obey God.  To be obedient to God we must be Spirit filled (Holy Spirit). The Voice of Experience

Bible readings from Sunday 16th January Message: Acts 17:26-27 Galations 6:7 Genesis Chapter 1:1 Eccelesiates Chapter 3 Romans 2:14-15 Ecclesiates 2:18 1 Corinthians chapter 13 Matthew 5:1-12 10 Commandments - Exodus chapter 20:1-17 We want the world to be fair, but it isn't.  Our view of what is fair may be different from another's view of what is fair.  People deny the existence of God, but that does not mean God does not exist.  Walk through Israel and surrounding areas to see historical evidence.  Look at creation.  Genesis chapter one verse 1 says "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." We don't know from one day to the next what will happen but God is our constant.  We are not here to build "castles" but to proclaim the Message and when we're done we take the Father's hand and go home. The following story shows us the voice of experience - we can learn a lot from a child's perspective... Sandcastles by
