About God

Psalm 90 It is supposed that this psalm refers to the sentence passed on Israel in the wilderness, Numbers 14. The favour and protection of God are the only sure rest and comfort of the soul in this evil world. Christ Jesus is the refuge and dwelling-place to which we may repair. We are dying creatures, all our comforts in the world are dying comforts, but God is an ever-living God, and believers find him so. When God, by sickness, or other afflictions, turns men to destruction, he thereby calls men to return unto him to repent of their sins, and live a new life. Romans 3:23 tells us about our condition and our remedy.  God created us to live in His glory not the enemy’s sin.  Time is God’s – eternal time - the body and soul shall both return and be united again. Key Verse Psalm 90:2  Before the mountains were born, before you birthed the earth and the inhabited world—from forever in the past to forever in the future, you are God.  Focus We want to live in such a way

Purposes of our Life

Matt 22:37-39 In OT God spoke through His Word and the prophets In NT God spoke through His Word and the Holy Spirit (now) 1  Worship God  -  Love the Lord your God...worship God Matt 22.37, loving God.  God doesn't just want lip service, but fulfilling these life purposes. 2  Ministry -  Matt 22:39 - loving others.  Love people regardless, even the sand paper people.   3  Evangelism - Matt 28:19-20 - ethnic groups, make disciples - v19a, Evangelism Individualism has caused so much harm, especially Christians.  How do we go and make disciples?  A disciple is different to a believer.  Satan believes in God.  A disciple is someone who follows Jesus, and has a relationship with Him.  The Holy Spirit is our helper. 4  Fellowship.  Until you taken home as a baby you dont have a family.  Baptism, incorporating people into a family.  A baby becomes part of a family when the mother and father pick the baby and take that child home.  Matt 28:19b  To lead in Church (be a Pastor)

Remembering Baptism: an act of worship

Mark 1 v 9.   Jesus set the example of how we are to live. Matt 28.19 to 20 Baptism is not somdthing that can save us, it shows we are a believer  1 John 2 v3 Surely we want to do what God wants for us There us a way we do it and dont do it Baptism should illustrate Jesus death and ressurection.  1 Cor 15:3-5 Baptism is about demonstrating our new life as a Christian. If our life is just the same as before we were a Christian we need to check our life.  Rom 6.4 Baptism does not make you a  Christian it shows you already believe. Baptism is the outward symbol of commitment you have made in your heart. Baptism is by immersion.  Matthew 3 v 16 Baptism is not about duty, its about our response to God.  Jesus' baptism is very powerful, part of Gods way of doing things. The word baptise means to dip under water, not to dip in or on water.  Greek means to immerse or dip under.  Baptism is not about Pastor or Church. Are we ready to be pulled apart and put back together b

Family

Notes: 1 Cor 9:22-23 What makes a church a family?     Church is meant to be living; not an organisation. A Family is the people, not material items. 1.  Our salvation, born again.  When you are born, you are not part of a family until someone picks you up and brings you home.  You have want to be there too. 2.  What the Church stands for.  If you want to know what a family believes is important. 3.  The way we live our life is very important. All that keeps us together is The Lord Jesus who is is central in our lives.  Don't let God walk out the door.  A church is a family.  A Christian without a church is an orphan.  A family provides support.  We stand up for each other.  One in union in Christ Jesus.  Now you are a saint.  Rom 8:1 As Gods people we enjoy great privileges.  We rely on Jesus alone for justification.  Putting on Christ according to the gospel, its about whats in your heart.  We shouldn't be living our 'old life'. God wants us to come o

Nehemiah 13:23-31

Notes: Before you were born again you were a gentile, after you became a Christian you are now a saint. Ruth and Rahab - did Ruth come into the nation as a Moabite or an Israelite? What about Rahab?  They have been grafted in  to nation of Israel.  They left behind their pagan traditions and culture and chose to come under God's way as He had instructed Israel. Ruth and Rahab took steps of faith.  Ruth took steps of faith and she never saw then end of the picture, if she had not been faithful to God were would never have known salvation, because Jesus Christ came through the line of David, of which both Ruth and Rahab are a part of. Ruth said to Naomi, where you I will go,your God will be my Go;, she surrendered herself to God. Israel at the centre of the world where God called this people to witness to the world.  Israel was and is a peculiar people; so too is the Church. The Word of God -  we read the Word because its part of Gods order Public Bible reading should b
