Heralders of the Gospel ( Part 7)

2 Timothy 1 : 12-18 We think it's about what God gives to us.  We expect to be given to us.  God abundantly gived to us and we must be a vessel that pours out.  As Christians we don't go to hell but we will stand before the judgment seat of God and answer to the question "what have you done with my Son?" When you have children one of the greatest rewards is to see them take what we have taught them and become responsible, giving and Christ minded people in our community. 2 Timothy 1 : 12-18 Counting all things as rubbish except what matters in eternity.   What is deposited in you in Christ.   Paul has been part in teaching Timothy.  All the times he had plenty won't be asked about.  The assurance of faith consists of trust in Christ. Keep trusting in Jesus to bring you through.   We can know it all? Paul knew it all.  Paul then meets the Lord on the road to Damascus;  Paul doesn't just know about the Lord, he knows the Lord. We can rest in that great gi

2 Timothy 4:1-8 John F Kennedy said "think not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country". Or  "think not what your church can do for you but what you can do for your church". Reputation,  whether we like it or not,  matters.  If people don't see the value of a person;  they won't see the value in a person. Abraham - Genesis 12 God gives us His Word and causes us to preach His Word.  You don't have to strive to be a good person;  you have to trust God. Satan promises good but pays evil; promise pleasure but pays with pain;  promises life but pays with death. What God promises you will have.  Life,  heaven, truth. Holy Spirit works on our conscience.   Our conscience is our advisor and our accuser.  Your conscience will judge you - right or wrong.   People who don't do anything with  their conscience can't be trusted and will lead you astray. Friendship is important.   True friends help you and walk with you

Heralders of the Gospel (Part 5)

We are God's people and we need to behave as God's people. John 13  2 Timothy 1:8-10 Paul tells Timothy not to be ashamed of the testimony of the Lord nor of Paul as a prisoner. Paul encourages Timothy not to be afraid of his faith. In the battles of life cowardice is not a good thing. Being ashamed of your faith is a product of your doubt and a product of your fear. Talking about how our faith works in our life. With our salvation comes a way we should live as believers in Christ.  The conquer dictates how history and laws (morals) are taught. Who are the strong? Technically YOU. You have the Holy Spirit and God's Word. You the one saved in Christ Jesus. Image this! A man is not to consult his conscience! It is like a man who has saved his purse but lost his goal. He makes his decisions but not based on God but on his own thinking.  God's rules are true - do right thing and rewarded. Do the wrong things and face punishment /no reward. Man must worship. Even people who

Heralders of the Gospel (Part 4) 2

Timothy 1 Our conscience - accuser, comforter. We need to learn to live a victorious life. One with a weak conscience takes short cuts; its not ok to do whatever you think. Are we weak or victorious? A good conscience is not double -minded, or weak. We need to guard our conscience from sin. We need to guard our heart for this is where the real issues of life come out for us. We need to listen and take action - pray for someone, help someone. We are good enough because God says we're good enough. Not because of what we think. Paul never ceases praying for Timothy. Timothy was young. It's not about you but the equipping of God in your life. God created in Timothy such a constant, respectful, responsible equipping in character. Paul would love to come and see Timothy. It's encouraging to be with fellow believers and be encouraged and encourage. A faithful man puts nothing above the Lord. He wants to see God be given glory in everything. God equips people (even the young) to
